On September 17, 2016, I’ll be biking across Cape Cod on my fourth Harbor to the Bay ride. Though I no longer live in New England, I’m honored to raise money for Community Research Initiative (CRI), an amazing Boston-based nonprofit doing groundbreaking work to make HIV medications safer, less expensive, and accessible to all who need them.

These days, it’s easier than ever to be optimistic that we will see an end to HIV/AIDS in our lifetime. New medications have extended the life expectancies of people infected with HIV (and with access to consistent, quality health care) to virtually normal. PrEP (PreExposure Prophylaxis) and Treatment as Prevention are reducing HIV transmission rates, and new studies are foreshadowing the day when HIV can be eliminated from viral reservoirs altogether.

But it’s also easy to be complacent and take for granted that this will happen. So I’m hopping back in the saddle for Harbor to the Bay and I’m pedaling to raise the money that will make possible CRI’s life-saving research.

Over the last three years of riding, I’ve been humbled by the generosity of so many friends and family. This year, I want to raise at least $5000 for Community Research Initiative. I very much hope you’ll join me and help end HIV, whether you’re supporting me for the first time or you’re stepping forward yet once more.

Once more, thank you – your kindness, generosity, and support means more than I can easily put into words.

P.S.: I wrote a blog post, Pedal for the Living, about my experience riding in Harbor to the Bay in 2013. Please give it a read when you have a moment.
